Why this keyboard shortcut site exists

A keyboard shortcut is documented by the company that made the app, and nowhere else is it documented properly. That is fine until you use more than one app. The keys for strikethrough are not the same in Word, Google Docs, Slack and Notion. Redo is Ctrl and Y in some apps and Ctrl, Shift and Z in others. A Mac keyboard does not simply swap Ctrl for Cmd, whatever the copies of copies on the web tell you.

Shortivo exists to answer the question people actually have, which is not "what are the shortcuts in this one app" but "what are the keys for this one thing, in the app I happen to be in, on the computer I happen to be using". Every key here is read from the maker documentation, recorded with the page it came from and the date it was checked, and published in two shapes: one page for each app, and one page for each task across every app that has it.

What we will not do matters just as much. We do not invent a shortcut that a maker does not publish. We do not guess a Mac combination from a Windows one. Where an app has no documented key for something, the table says so instead of filling the gap.

  • One task, every app See the same action side by side in every app that documents it, with the Windows and Mac keys in separate columns.
  • A source for every key Each shortcut links to the maker page it was taken from, so you can check it yourself in one click.
  • Gaps left visible An undocumented combination is marked as undocumented. Nothing is converted between systems to fill a column.
  • Free, and no sign in Search, cheat sheets and practice are open to everyone. Saved shortcuts stay in your own browser.

How Shortivo compares with other keyboard shortcut sites

There are three other places people look for a keyboard shortcut: the documentation written by the company that makes the app, defkey, and KeyCombiner. Each is useful. Here is what each one does, and where this site is different. We read all three in October 2026, and they can change. If anything here is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.

Shortivo compared with maker documentation, defkey and KeyCombiner, as read in October 2026
What you want Shortivo Maker documentation defkey KeyCombiner
One task compared across every app Yes. A page for each task lists every app that documents it. No. Each maker writes about its own app. No. Pages are built one app at a time. No. Collections are built one app at a time.
How the pages are organised One page for each app, one page for each task. One page, or several, for the maker own app. A page for each app, and separate ones per system and version. A page for each app, with a switch between systems.
A source link and a check date on each shortcut Yes, on every one. It is the source. Some makers date the page. The page carries a date. Individual keys are not sourced. Not shown on the pages we read.
What it costs, and what pays for it Free, no account, and no advertising on the site today. Free. Free, with advertising on the pages. Free to read, with a paid plan for its practice features.
Practice and printable cheat sheets Both, free, built from the same catalog. No. Some makers publish a printable sheet. It shows the keys on a keyboard image. Yes, and they are the part behind the paid plan.

Maker documentation is still the place that settles an argument, which is why every shortcut here links to it rather than asking you to take our word. The one thing none of the others do is put a single task side by side across apps, and that is the part of this site we would not want to live without. Shortivo is independent and is not affiliated with any of these companies.

Where these shortcuts come from, and who keeps them

Keys are read from documentation published by the makers of each app, recorded with the page and section they came from, and re-checked when a maker changes a release. Nothing is scraped from another shortcut site, and no key is generated by converting one system into another. The most recent check across the whole catalog was on September 14, 2026.
