Privacy policy
This policy explains what Shortivo collects, why, and what it does not collect. The site is published by Niche Bloggers LLC, who is the data controller for it.
For any question about this policy, or to make a request about your own data, write to support@shortivo.net.
The short version
- You can read this whole site without giving us anything.
- Your saved shortcuts and practice results never leave your browser.
- We ask for information only when you choose to send it, by reporting a correction or by emailing us.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross context behavioural advertising.
What stays in your browser
The saved shortcuts feature, your collections, your cheat sheet and your practice results are stored using your browser local storage on your own device. This is not a cookie and it is not sent to this server. We cannot read it.
Because it lives in one browser on one device, it does not sync anywhere. Clearing your browsing data removes it. The saved page has an export and import button so you can move it yourself.
What the server records
Like nearly every website, the hosting provider writes a server log for each request. A log line typically holds the internet address the request came from, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser user agent string. These logs exist to keep the site running and to investigate abuse.
The lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site. Log retention is set by the hosting provider.
When you report a correction
The correction form stores what you type, which shortcut record it refers to, and a one way hashed form of your network address kept briefly to stop automated abuse. Giving an email address is optional and is only used to reply to you about that report.
Reports go to a private moderation queue. They never publish anything on their own. The lawful basis is consent, which you give by sending the form, together with our legitimate interest in keeping the catalog accurate.
Reports are kept while the correction is being worked through and for a reasonable period afterwards so the same issue is not investigated twice.
When you email us
We keep your message and address so we can answer it and so we have a record of the exchange. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Comments and accounts
If commenting is switched on, WordPress stores the name, email address and comment you submit, together with your internet address and browser user agent string, and sets cookies so the form remembers you on this device. If you register an account, WordPress stores the details you give and you can see, edit and delete them from your profile at any time, except your username.
Cookies
This site sets no tracking cookies of its own. The cookies it may set are the ordinary WordPress ones for signing in and for remembering a comment form. The cookie policy lists them and explains how to control them.
Advertising
This site carries advertising. Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve advertisements based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve advertisements to you based on your visit to this site or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in your Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third party vendor use of cookies for personalised advertising through the advertising industry opt out pages. Where required, this site asks for your consent before advertising cookies are set, and you can change that choice at any time.
Third party vendors set their own policies. Read theirs as well as this one, because we do not control what they collect.

Embedded content from other sites
Pages may link to official documentation on other websites. Following such a link takes you to a site with its own privacy policy, which we do not control. Embedded content from another website behaves exactly as if you had visited that website directly.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not trade it. It is shared only with the hosting provider that runs this site, with any advertising partner named above where advertising is switched on, and where the law requires it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent you have given. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
To make any of these requests, write to support@shortivo.net. We will respond within 5 working days, and in every case inside the period the law allows.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.
Children
This site is a general reference and is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and it will be deleted.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection where the hosting provider supports it. Administrative access needs an account with the right permission. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
Where information is handled
We operate from United States. The hosting provider may process and store data in another country. Where that happens, it is done under the safeguards that provider has in place.
Changes to this policy
