About YouTube and its shortcuts
YouTube's player has a keyboard that most viewers half know: play and pause, seek by small or large steps, change speed, toggle captions and fullscreen, and jump to a proportion of the video with the number row. Knowing the seek and speed commands changes how you watch long videos.
These work when the player has focus, not while you are typing in a comment or the search box, which is the usual reason they seem to stop working. Browser extensions can also take a key first.
