About Microsoft Excel and its shortcuts

Excel is the spreadsheet most offices run on, and it rewards keyboard work more than almost any other program here. Its shortcuts fall into three worlds that behave differently: moving and selecting across a grid, editing what is inside one cell, and acting on the sheet or workbook around them. People who work quickly in Excel are usually fluent in the first two and barely touch the mouse.

Microsoft documents Windows and Mac separately, and the two are genuinely different rather than translations of each other. Excel for the web supports a smaller set again, and a few combinations are intercepted by the browser before the sheet sees them. Check which Excel you are in before blaming the keys.
